by Dawj Sangster– At a time when the fine city of Chicago is in an uproar over violence, Darren Hammond, CEO of The Darren Group, is making a difference in the lives of our youth through sports and education. Darren, along with international brands, former pro athletes and others joined forces to keep youth fit, educated and mentoring them to achieve their best as they develop and grow.

Darren’s unique way of making his recent event a success was to focus on partnering with various high school and college athletes, to get the youth in the 5th-8th grades interacting with older individuals they look up to, on a cold Saturday in December. Over 150 youth from various parts of Chicago showed up at the Quest Multisport Facility in Chicago to spend a day being empowered and exercising. They performed drills, listened to music (DJ Phoenix and Young Wayne), worked with various master coaches, ate healthy snacks, played games and listened to empowerment talks from former NBA (Bobby Simmons) and NFL (Corey Mays) players.

This clinic was free with the generous donations from sponsors Gatorade, Jordan Brand, McDonald’s, TDG Master Coaches and local community supporters.
