Cricket Wireless launched it’s first “Cricket Community Stars: Salute to Solopreneurs Contest,” designed to recognize small businesses operated by one person. That “solopreneur” must also be engaged in the community.
Chicagoan Zondra Hughes, founder of the Six Brown Chicks blog is a finalist. Solopreneurs applied from seven markets including Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles.
This year, Zondra’s community service projects have included The Black Social Network free college tour designed to teach college students the importance of responsible social media engagement; and she also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity as a part of the GMC Hidden Treasures Adventure. Past projects have included Girls in Color and Black Women’s Expo, where the Six Brown Chicks spoke to women about sisterhood and healthy relationships.
As a finalist, Zondra will place either first, second or third. All winners will receive a cash prize, a Samsung Galaxy s5 and free service from Cricket Wireless. Finalists are notified of their winnings on tomorrow. Follow Cricket Wireless on Twitter @CricketNation. Follow Zondra Hughes on Twitter @ZondraHughes.
