Intimate Discussions Returns!

Intimate Discussions Returns!

By Yolanda Yanni Brown

I am happy to announce the return of “Intimate Discussions” a live co-ed conversation about Love, Life and the Pursuit of Happiness. Our goal is to create better conversations and solutions in our efforts of Making Love Better TwoGether.

We will kick off the summer series Friday, June 15, 2012, 7 pm-10 pm at Sangster Studios 1200 West 35th Street. It is here that we will we ask the difficult questions “Should women act like a man and think like a lady? Are we becoming the men that we want to date? What is your relationship I.Q.?” and more….

In 2006, I noticed a serious disconnect when it came to how men and women related to one another. The divorce rate was soaring past the 50% mark and it left me feeling very unsettled.

I thought to myself that if we could have a conversation about the issues that relationships experienced it would bring those issues to the forefront and we could tackle them twogether. I was on a mission and it was my dream to host a co-ed discussion based on solutions, personal growth and getting to healthier relationships.

The rules were simple: You could be single, engaged, married, divorced, kickin-it-with-friends or just curious. All we asked is that you came with an open mind be willing to listen to others’ opinions and ready to enjoy and learn. Single, engaged, married, divorced, kickin-it-with-friends, or just curious. It doesn’t matter.

All we ask is that you come ready to laugh and learn.
Intimate Discussions was never intended to be a lecture but a group of us twogether, participating in the discussion voluntarily. We encouraged freedom of speech, and a sense of humor with the intent of sharing. Sharing our own experiences, the good, bad and the ugly in hopes that getting our issues out in the open was therapeutic to the person sharing and beneficial to the person listening.

During the four-year period of “Intimate Discussions” we had some amazing breakthroughs.
One couple discovered the value in being twogether and got married. One of our favorite couples always had a way to share and show a different point of view when the discussion involves what people think marriage is and should be.
We even had a few attendees who were very rough around the edges with what they believed relationships were. We’ve seen some amazing growth within our Intimate Discussions group and some beautiful friendships and relationships were cultivated from having them. We became a family. Looking back on them, we achieved what we set out to do and that was to create solutions on how we can make love better twogether.

We connected to achieve personal growth and development.
Last, but certainly not least, we learned what healthy relationships should look and feel like.

I’m STEPPING OUT on FAITH because I believe in Making Love Better TwoGether. I believe that TwoGether we can build and cultivate healthy relationships for our generation, and for those who live and love after us.
