Great Pumpkin Fest in Highwood, IL

City of Highwood, IL has some really, really big plans for Halloween this year.
Highwood intends to make pumpkin carving history with this year’s Great Pumpkin Fest. How, you ask?

The organizers of this four-day festival plan to break the Guinness Book
of World Record for the most jack-o-lanterns lit in one location.

Plans call for 32,000 pumpkins (!) to light up Highwood on Saturday October
23rd to break the current world’s record set in 2006 of 30,128 pumpkins
in Boston, MA.
The Great Pumpkin Fest kicks off on Wednesday, October 20th and
will culminate in the grand lighting on the 23rd.

Family-oriented festivities leading up to the record breaking pumpkin
lighting include the chance to carve your own pumpkin to be included in the display!

Other scheduled highlights include: the Highwood Evening Gourmet Farmers
Market at City Hall Park (17 Highwood Ave), live music, hay rides, a haunted house, pumpkin carving
stations, massive pumpkin displays, lighting of the towers, a 50/50
raffle plus additional prizes and much more. Visit the official website for all of the details on this seriously huge Halloween event! Check out the photo gallery for some pictures from last year’s event.
