Prince William and Kate Middleton Release Official Engagement Photos

Prince William and fiancée Kate Middleton made it even more official on Saturday, with the release of two official engagement photographs. The images were shot by famed fashion photographer and close friend of the royal family Mario Testino

The princess-to-be and her prince charming posed during a two-hour shoot, and the results were glowing, according to the world-renowned photographer.

“I am very happy to have been asked to cover this historic moment that the whole world was waiting for. They are in their prime and brimming with happiness,” says Testino, the same photographer who took iconic pictures of Princess Diana shortly before her 1997 death. “I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together.”

The engagement photos were shot on November 25th, at St. James’ Palace in London.

The pair’s nuptials should be the biggest royal event since Prince Charles married Diana in 1981.

Prince William and his fiancée, are said to have made a secret pact to marry three years ago while on vacation in the Seychelles. “Kate wanted assurances from William,” Nicholl explains. “William told Kate she was The One, but he was not ready to get married. She…agreed to wait for him.”

Another insider tells Us Weekly: “He wants to spend the rest of his life with her.”

The royal wedding is set to take place on April 29, 2011, at London’s Westminster Abbey.

  • As much as the less formal picture looks like an add for an STD medication (and admit it, it sort of does) I still want to be sandwiched in the middle of that royal hug. It looks so warm.
