A Building Frozen in Time

Land in any city, including Chicago and its suburbs, and travel up and down its streets, and if you didn’t know what city you were in, you can’t be blamed.  All the buildings look the same, corporate-cloned architecture that is replicated by the thousands so as to be instantly recognizable and instantly forgotten the moment it is out of view.  McDonald’s and Wendy’s and Panera Bread all clutter the landscape with sameness.

This wasn’t always the case.  Sometimes buildings exemplified what they sold or did.  I ran across this one in North Canton, Ohio. imag6612 I’ve seen a few others, but they are few and far between.  This is roadside kitsch, and it’s vanishing into the sameness of non-offending, robot-replicated buildings.

Twistee Treat, North Canton, Ohio, is frozen in time.
