Chicago International Salsa Congress Kicks Off 10th Annual Celebration

February has already been rough on this city so someone decided that it’s turn up the heat and introduce the 10th Annual Chicago International Salsa Congress events, beginning February 17th through the 20th, at the Westin-O’Hare in Rosemont.

Chicago International Salsa Congress is best known as one of the largest salsa celebrations in the United States. It boasts of a list of events including world-class dancers, musicians, performers and instructors for the 4-day list of events planned this month. 

The organization launched the annual event with a huge kickoff party, at Mercedes Benz of Chicago, for fans of beloved Latin styles of dance. The evening was filled with many dancers and a special performance to give the audience a little taste of what’s to come later in the month.

Top Latin Music performers include:

San Juan Habana, to perform on Thursday, February 17 at 8:30 p.m.8:30 p.m.
$20 Advance/$30 at door
Together with his band San Juan-Habana, Juan Jose Hernandezchampions an organic salsa hybrid that brings together influences from Cuba and Puerto Rico.

Grupo Niche , to perform on Friday, February 18, at 10:30 p.m.
$40 Advance/$50 at door
Direct from Columbia, Grupo Niche is one of the world’s best known salsa and cumbia groups and enjoys great popularity throughout Latin America.

Sammy Garcia y Sabor de Puerto Rico, to perform on Saturday, February 19, at 10:30 p.m.
$40 Advance/$50 at door
In the world of the tropical music, Sammy is counted as one of the very best, performing at Madison Square Garden, Aruba Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Carnaval de Panamá.


Jose Alberto “El Canario”, to perform on Sunday, February 20th, at 10:30 p.m.
$40 Advance/$50 at door
The Dominican-born Alberto, and his exceptional voice and unique style, have made him a long-time musical icon throughout Latin America.

The entire 4-days of events will be held at the Westin-O’Hare, in Rosemont, IL. Admission ranges from the Dance Showcase/Concert package at $30.00, a 1-day pass to all dance workshops for $99.00, or the 4-day/3-night all inclusive package for $329.00.
