Four down, twelve to go
The road to the Stanley Cup
Has only begun
It takes 16 post-season wins to accomplish One Goal. The Blackhawks notched win number 4 by dominating the St. Louis Blues in the third period of game 6 of their first round series, winning by a score of 5-1
The Blackhawks defense, with Corey Crawford behind them, survived 6 penalty kills in the 2nd period. Patrick Sharp finally got his first playoff goal of the year. And for the second year in a row (in eerily similar fashion) the Blues were eliminated after winning the first 2 games of Round One.
After way too many last minute goals in this series by St. Louis, it was nice to see the Blackhawks with a comfortable lead as the last few minutes ran off the clock. Especially when Doc Emrick showed that when it comes to announcing sporting events on television, the greats know sometimes it’s better to keep quiet. With about 12 seconds left in the game, he said, “It’s all over but the shouting, so we’ll listen to some of that.”
And then, we heard this.
