I certainly don’t proclaim to be a doughnut connoisseur, but when my sister spotted a shop she’s wanted to try one afternoon in the city, who am I to disagree?! Even if doughnuts aren’t your first-choice for sweets, you’ll definitely find one you like here. Glazed and Infused takes their doughnut creations to a “hole” new level.
At first glance the maple bacon long john was calling my name. But, since there’s no filling inside I had to pass (I know, there’s a difference between a long john and an eclair, but any pastry in that shape should have a filling!).
I do like that there aren’t 75 different choices. Everything is made from scratch (by hand) using mostly local ingredients: so many flavors are also seasonal.
Ultimately, I opted for the Mocha Koffee Toffee and the Brown Sugar Peach Marmalade: no fake canned jelly here- chunks of real peaches spilled out from inside. Though they both were good, I’d happily order the Mocha Koffee Toffee again…and again!
Glazed and Infused has been around since 2012 and they’ve opened 5 locations since the original in the West Loop (we visited the shop on Armitage in Lincoln Park). You may recognize the founder’s name: Chef Scott Harris, co-founder of the Francesca’s restaurants.
Really love doughnuts? Check out their jumbo 16″ party size doughnut! They also create specialties for weddings, catering, and special events (like decorating parties).
