Day 63: The Wurst Kitchen!

I figure a business that has been in the same location since 1895 has to be doing something right!  The sad thing is, I used to work four blocks away and didn’t even know that they were there.  Apparently I was the only one because people drive hundreds of miles for their European (mostly German) smoked sausages and meats.  Think you know your bratwurst? The Wurst Kitchen has over 80 varieties!


Though the building has changed slightly over the years, their commitment the finest ingredients (no fillers, chemicals, water or preservatives) has remained the same. Obviously sausage & wurst are their main products, but you can also find a few deli meats and cheeses. And, if you’re lucky, owner Ed will have homemade schnitzel and spaetzle available too! You won’t find a full market here, but plenty of German condiments stock the shelves.image

Don’t wait until Oktoberfest to test this hundred (plus) year old gem. Out of 80 different varieties, chances are there is something for you year round. What did we go with? Original, jalapeño/cheddar, Jack Daniel’s bratwurst, spaetzle, and schnitzel!image
