Just in time for Halloween, TV’s “Haunted Collector” John Zaffis will bring the scary to Harper College’s J Building Theater, Room J143, Building J at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
The series has always seemed to me to be the real-life equivalent to the old Canadian-American series, Friday the 13th. I loved that show and the premise was that the relatives of a deceased antique dealer who made a pact with the devil have to spend their time retrieving all of the cursed items that were sold from the store. Then again, that was fiction and this is reality.
Zaffis will speak about his role as creator and host of the popular SyFy Channel reality series “The Haunted Collector,” on which he answers calls from people being terrorized by objects that have become haunted or possessed. Each week, Zaffis is responsible for ridding his clients of these objects either by returning them, burying them or bringing them to his very own paranormal museum. “The Haunted Collector” began airing its second season in June on SyFy. Its premiere episode was the highest rated reality debut on the network.
The audience at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine, Il., can expect to hear Zaffis tell his favorite stories of ghostly encounters and discuss his collection of paranormal artifacts. With over 30 years as a paranormal investigator and demonologist under his belt, Zaffis is an expert in anything and everything that goes bump in the night. Following his presentation, he will be available for a brief Q&A session.
To purchase tickets, visit harpercollege.edu or contact the box office at 847-925-6100.
Zaffis’ visit is just one of several spooky offerings at Harper this October. The College is also offering Continuing Education courses in paranormal investigation, extraterrestrial life and horror films. For more information on these courses, visit harpercollege.edu/ce.
Happy Halloween everyone!
