Northwestern is ranked!

Headline pretty much says it all, but a quick analysis of this joyous occasion is after the jump.

NC State vs. Northwestern

Northwestern is ranked #25 this week in the AP Top 25. I think
that about says it all. It is the Wildcats’ first national ranking
since January of 1969. Northwestern received 144 votes, easily out
distancing Gonzaga (129 votes) for 25th.

There is still some work to do, as Drew Crawford (right) and his teammates are 5th in the Others Receiving Votes category in the Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats will have to win a tough game at Illinois on Wednesday in order to be ranked heading into their January 2 showdown against #11 Michigan State at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Polls are here.
