Windy City Cinema is my attempt to inflict my opinions about movies upon an unsuspecting public. Those who wander into these boggy, bloggy parts may find occasional movie reviews of current theatrical releases and revivals playing around the greater Chicago area, as well as forays into home viewing territory. Interviews, features, and random rants will also be part of the mix.

I have written about movies as a professional, semi-pro and unsanctioned amateur for over two decades. Past regular or semi-regular homes for my cinematic scribblings have included Chicagoist, Centerstage Chicago, The Journal Times (Racine, WI), Facets Multimedia’s video catalogs, The Daily Southtown (Chicago), and Southern Lakes Weekend (Burlington, WI).

I’m also proud to have had reviews in these publications and/or websites: The Chicago Reader, The Onion’s A.V. Club, Twitch, Classic-Horror.com, Tangents and CineScene. For a little less than two years, I also wrote and maintained a niche horror cinema website, Shadows & Screams.

    Joel Wicklund

Joel Wicklund has been writing about movies for over two decades now and, shockingly, he is still allowed to do so. He was a film critic for Chicagoist before its demise, among other outlets. He insists on claiming more online space here in the hope of indoctrinating more lost souls in his personal cult of cinephilia. Reviews, rants, interviews, features…you get the drift.
