Kids Write to Eat

You may have noticed that I have been posting a lot about issues surrounding food and kids recently. While I am at it, I thought that I would mention another important event coming up this weekend.

Children of all ages are encouraged to attend Green City Market and Slow Food Chicago’s “Kids Write to Eat” event on Saturday, February 27, 2010.

This is an opportunity for America’s youth to participate in a letter-writing campaign to Congress and speak out about their wishes for the Child Nutrition Act and its governance of U.S. school lunch programs. This piece of legislation is really important for to the future health of our kids. I encourage you to read more about it here.

The campaign takes places from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. upstairs in the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum’s North Gallery. Paper, pens and crayons will be provided — just bring your kids!
