New breakfast idea: smoothie bowls

I am always looking for new breakfast ideas that are healthy, unique and tasty.  The smoothie bowl seems new, but in reality it is simply a fresh idea for an old staple. I used to drink smoothies every single day, but eventually got bored of them. This far from boring smoothie bowl is eaten with a spoon and a nutritious breakfast to start the day.

Today I’m sharing a citrus version (the majority of us) enjoyed this morning.  Of course, there are many variations and it is fun to get creative with fruits and toppings you have in the house.

Citrus Smoothie Bowl

3 bananas

1/3 cup oatmeal

1/3 cup Greek yogurt

1 peeled orange

1 tablespoon maple syrup

Blend 2 bananas, oatmeal, yogurt, 1/2 orange and syrup until smooth.  Pour into bowls and top with orange segments and banana slices.
