It is cold and gets dark by 4:30 these days.  It is easy to stay home in yoga pants, munch on popcorn and watch Netflix.  Or you can go to the theater and see Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas!

It is worth it as State Street is decorated in it’s finest and despite the biting cold, it is hard not to get into the holiday spirit.  My son and I even had a chance to look at the Macy’s (or Marshall Fields as I will always call it) windows.  I remember my parents taking me to enjoy the holiday tradition as a kid and I marveled at the details with my son.

Then there is the beautiful Chicago Theatre each corner more detailed and ornate than the next.  It is hard not to feel fancy inside the old theater.

The ninety-minute show is a high energy, light, joyful musical that includes all the creative rhymes of Dr. Seuss.   My son was captive I noticed my foot taping along to the whimsical music. He loved staying up late in the city, discussing the difference between the book, movie and play on the cab ride home and passed out immediately clutching his Grinch stuffed animal.
