Today, I walked in and out of stores looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift for my mom. I looked and looked, yet no items seemed worthy of saying thank you to my mother for giving me life and raising me.
I believe my mom has everything she needs. She is healthy, has been married for over 40 years, 2 children, 2 grandchildren, many friends and a mother of her own that is almost 95 years young. Over the past 35 years I have given my mom lots of homemade cards, framed photos, jewelry, manicures, flowers and countless other gifts she may or may not enjoyed.
Although it has been 7 years that I have been a mother myself, I always feel the special Sunday is about my mom, just as much or more than it is about me. Every year I appreciate and understand my own mom more and more.
This year I am going to try to give her something different for Mother’s Day.
1. Invitation to my home for dinner.
2. I will cook for her.
3. Do my very best not to roll my eyes at her.
4. Talk and listen to my Mom.
5. Hug my Mom.
6. Mean it when I say “Thank you for everything.”
I hope that can be better than any store bought gift. What are you giving your mom this Sunday?
Happy Mother’s Day Mom and to all of you!
