I wear yoga clothes pretty much every day. Between teaching, workouts and class it seems that I put them on in the morning and am too rushed, tired, comfortable to change. That is why cuteness is almost as important as function, as far as I’m concerned. I’m also always looking for something a little different than what everyone else is wearing.
This is why I’m thrilled I found KiraGrace who just released the new Warrior Yoga Collection, unveiling a partnership with Off the Mat, Into the WorldTM. 100% of the profits from the sales of select key pieces in the KiraGrace Warrior Yoga Collection will go to support Off the Mat, Into the World’s Project Springboard.
I fell in love with the unique and flattering fit on the Warrior Yoga T-Back Tank especially knowing it is supporting an organization I feel passionate about.
Off the Mat, Into the WorldTM is a non-profit organization using yoga’s values of awareness, sustainability and service to empower activism from a grassroots level. Off the Mat uses an innovative toolkit to train, connect and guide new leaders to discover their purpose and create conscious social change. Tens of thousands of mobilized activists have raised over $2 Million through Off the Mat programs such as Global SevaChallenge, the Empowered Youth Initiative and YogaVotes. Off the Mat was founded in 2007 by three of the yoga community’s most well-known and influential teachers, Seane Corn, Suzanne Sterling and Hala Khouri. The organization is based in San Francisco, California as part of the non-profit Engage Network.
Intrigued to learn more; I had the opportunity to ask Kira some questions and am thrilled to learn she is as genuine as her clothing.
Why did you start KiraGrace? I started KiraGrace out of my passion for yoga and women’s apparel. I wanted to create a 100% women owned business in the activewear space that celebrates feminine strength and beauty and gives back to the yoga community. This is also part of the reason we chose to partner with Off the Mat, Into the World.
Why did you decide to give 100% of proceeds of select items to Off the Mat and Into the World? I love the work Off the Mat is doing to raise awareness around issues that are sometimes difficult to look at. They’re not afraid to take an unpopular position, and I feel very aligned with the work they are doing in the community and around the world. I chose to specifically support their Project Springboard initiative, because it focuses on mentoring and empowering women.
What qualities do you look for when wearing yoga clothes? Performance, performance, performance. On top of that it is essential to find pieces with a flattering fit, wicking fabrics, and a silhouette that makes you look and feel amazing.
How long have you been practicing yoga and what is your favorite yoga pose? I’ve been practicing for about 20 years now. Wheel pose (Urdhva Dhanuarasna) is the most challenging for me, and hence, my favorite. I have to learn to love it.
What have you learned from practicing yoga? Gratitude for everything.
