Remember when many churches and businesses had neon signs? Today it seems that most of them have back lit plastic signs in front of their parking lots. First Baptist Church in Little Rock still has its neon sign hanging from its steeple. It is a nice sign, clearly identifying the church day and night. This is a neon sign in excellent condition, it may be old, but if it is, it’s well maintained.
Just down the street from First Baptist is the home of 7th Street Hair and Tattoo Salon; an old art deco building, updated with a coat of turquoise paint. Its neon sign is a fiesta, pink, purple, turquoise and yellow. The sign is either modern, or it is a very well maintained old sign., my hunch is that it is new. The concept of the shop is interesting, both the hair and body can be remodeled and redecorated in one place!
This sign, on Chester Street is a sign that is a combination of a neon and back-lit plastic sign. I wondered if it was all neon at one time and was remodeled when the original business moved. The other side of the sign is empty and neglected.
