Frosting and Food Trucks

Frosting and Food Trucks
Welcome to America

img_0237Seeing Chicago as a tourist when I have lived there for over 60 years.

Last month I made a trip to Chicago for a few days. With my new camera in hand, I looked and snapped away.

There were a few field trips at the Chicago Cultural Center  the day we visited.  This work was the the field trip favorite.  It was made of frosting and the children were just enthralled. Wow!  was the comment of the day.  The heart at the top said “Welcome to America.”  Unexpected art at its best.

What’s new–Food trucks.  Big elsewhere, newish in Chicago.  One is interesting, a line of them is unexpected art.

fullsizeoutput_42c6I have no idea why these two gigantic figures were on Michigan Ave–it was St Patrick’s week.  One obviously is President Lincoln, the other–maybe President Regan?  I remember a giant Marilyn Monroe on this spot several years ago.  Sculptures–yes, unexpected–yes, art–maybe not.
