And I was doing so well at getting these recipes out… The holidays are made for spending time with family and loved ones though, so I guess I will give up the guilt and have another cup of coffee. Here is the last recipe in the series. If you have a Starbucks habit and are trying to quit and make more coffee at home, here is a recipe for a fancy splurge. Although if you drink too many of these, a Starbuck’s habit won’t be your only problem, but this drink is a great treat. And if you have read my blog before you already know chocolate goes in coffee.
White Chocolate Mocha
1 11 oz bag of Ghiardelli white chocolate chips
1 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
In a double boiler, or a bowl over boiling water, heat chips and milk to creamy. I have tried this in the microwave. The texture just turns out better if it is melted slower. Not that it can’t be done the other way, but you won’t have as much control. You can refrigerate this in an airtight container and it will make many future cups.
1 c heavy whipping cream
1 Tbl sugar
1 tsp vanilla
In a blender, whip all three ingredients until soft peak. A mixer would work too. It takes a little longer, but make sure to start on low unless you like cleaning your kitchen. A Magic Bullet or Vitamix takes about 15 seconds.
Brew a strong cup of coffee, scoop a dollop of the chocolate mixture into the cup and stir. A little or a lot is up to you and your taste buds, and your belt. Top with whipped cream. You you could also use chocolate chips or dark chocolate shavings. Enjoy!
