If it’s good enough for Ellen, it’s good enough for you! The Geneva House Tour and Christmas Walk is the weekend of December 7th and 8th in lovely Geneva, IL.
I went with a friend on the house tour last year and IT IS PHENOMENAL. The houses are professionally decorated by stores in town and they really outdo themselves. One house even had all of the owner’s furniture removed and replaced with new from the store! (Wouldn’t it be a bummer to bring all the old stuff back in?) It is picture perfect. The real evergreen boughs and arrangements will knock your socks off.
The House Tour takes place on Friday, December 7 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday, December 8 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Quoted from the Geneva Chamber website…”Five distinctive homes decorated for the holidays will open their doors to visitors for self-guided tours. A traditional tea at the Congregational Church in Geneva and a keepsake decorating and entertaining ideas booklet are also included in the tour.”
House tour tickets are $30 per person. For more information on the House Tour contact the Chamber Office at (630) 232-6060 or click the following link for ticket locations…House Tour Tickets
Along with the house tour, the traditional Christmas Walk begins on December 7 at 6:00 pm when Santa Lucia, the Swedish symbol of the season, and her attendants arrive by horse-drawn carriage to offer Swedish cookies to visitors. Santa makes his appearance to light the Great Tree on the Courthouse lawn and officially opens his Gingerbread House at 6:30 pm.
** If you love seeing beautifully decorated homes, there are many local communities that host house tours, such as the one in Oak Park/River Forest coming up this weekend, November 30th and December 1st. Most of the proceeds for housewalks benefit local charities or community groups.
