Ever dream of playing softball professionally? The Chicago Bandits have teamed up with the Pennsylvania Rebellion and will co-host their annual open tryouts for 2015 on Sunday, May 24th, starting at 9 a.m. at the Ballpark at Rosemont.
Members of the Pennsylvania Rebellion coaching staff will also be on hand to participate in the 2015 tryouts.
Tryouts will be open to women, ages 21 and over, who have completed eligibility at a four-year institution. A payment of $40 must be sent to the Chicago Bandits prior to the open tryouts. Payments can be mailed to 27 Jennie Finch Way, Rosemont, IL, 60018 or faxed to 630-396-3095.
Participants are required to bring their equipment, including a glove, cleats, catcher’s gear, batting helmet, bat and batting gloves.
Players will be judged based on their hitting, fielding, position specific skills, base running and 40-yard time, as well as arm strength and knowledge of the game.
Fans are welcome to come out and watch potential Bandits players try out for a spot on the team free of charge.
Following the open tryouts, select players will be asked to stay and suit up for the Bandits as they take on the Pennsylvania Rebellion in an exhibition game beginning at 5:35 p.m. Selected players will take the field for both the Bandits and Rebellion in an effort to earn their spot.
The Bandits and the Rebellion will make their selections for the 2015 roster spot immediately following the exhibition game.
Six current players, including 2014 NPF Home Run Champion Brittany Cervantes, Danielle Zymkowitz, Natalie Hernandez, Kirsten Verdun and Alex Booker have signed with the Bandits through tryouts over the past four seasons.
Tickets for all 2015 Bandits games, including the home opener on Thursday, June 4 against the Akron Racers, are on sale now. For more information about the Chicago Bandits, or to purchase tickets contact the front office at 877-722-6348, or log on at chicagobandits.com.
