Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Anger Gingers

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Anger Gingers
My heart is rarely crushed by a celebrity. In general, I know they are celebrities — real people, out there in the abyss somewhere, with real people problems and quirks et al, except probably made thousands of times worse by the bastardization that is fame. It always strikes me as incredibly odd when people say... Read more »

A Redhead Walks into the Dermatologist...

A Redhead Walks into the Dermatologist...
Yesterday I went to the dermatologist for the first time since I was quite young. I was very nervous as I have a bit of white coat syndrome and was afraid she was going to tell me my skin looks terrible and chastise me for not taking care of it. Well what do y’know, the... Read more »

Holiday Gifts for Redheads

Holiday Gifts for Redheads
Happy Black Friday y’all! Here are some ideas for what gifts to get your redhead this holiday season: Red Hair Don’t Care Snapback Hat: These hats are usually reserved for gangstas or wanna-be white boys from the suburbs, but I promise this will be a wonderful contrast to your redhead’s fiery locks. (Hint: I really... Read more »

Redhead Thanksgiving

Redhead Thanksgiving
Things I’m thankful for this year as a ginger: That it’s cool to look different these days. For sunscreen. For the EPA calling out sunscreen that doesn’t work. For Devachan and access to people who actually know how to cut curly hair. Prince Harry. Being old enough to have learned how to accept my uniqueness.... Read more »

Happy National Love Your Red Hair Day!

Happy National Love Your Red Hair Day!
If you ain’t a redhead, then you probably don’t get why this holiday is important. Most of us gingers have a similar story: we hated our hair growing up. It invited bullying, teases and jabs from other kids, because well, kids bully kids for being different. It’s probably no different from having a gap between... Read more »

Redhead in Greece

Redhead in Greece
I was nervous to go to Greece alone. It would be my first solo female travel experience. I’ve always done things like that – diving into the deep end first, before working my way up to it. Honestly, I’d wanted my first solo trip to be to a surf camp in Puerto Rico, but then... Read more »

Redhead Turning Blonde?

Redhead Turning Blonde?
Last week, the worst thing ever happened to me: I was called blonde. Let me set the stage for you: My co-worker used the phrase “redheaded stepchild” and I (somewhat jokingly) called him out on it for being offensive. Then he apologized and said he forgot he was talking to. Which led him into saying... Read more »

The No Eye Makeup Experiment

The No Eye Makeup Experiment
Recently, I wrote about experimenting with going eye makeup-free. I’ve been tired of putting makeup on my eyes in the morning and spending far too much time and energy (and money) wiping it off at night. I’ve learned to love the look of someone with pale eyebrows and eyelashes wearing nothing but (usually bright) lipstick.... Read more »

Do Men Like Makeup on Redheads?

Do Men Like Makeup on Redheads?
If you’ve been reading this blog lately, you know that I’ve been practicing going sans makeup, save for lipstick. In my last post, I described a man I’d been chatting with on Happn, and how he told me he had a redhead fetish because us lack-of-melaniners tend to look more natural in our overdone makeup... What Men Really Think of Redheads

What Men Really Think of Redheads
Oddly enough, shortly after the last post about redheads going sans makeup save for lipstick, someone made an interesting comment to me. A guy I’ve been talking to on the dating app Happn started asking me questions about redhead genes (and my ginger phile alarm bells started ringing). He admitted he liked redheads and when... thegingerphiles

The Ginger Phile has had the unfortunate disposition of being a ginger since birth. She has tried various medications to cure her gingervitis, including therapies such as tantrum-throwing. Her efforts have been to no avail. Instead, she is trying to write it out, via this blog. Unfortunately, she doesn't think it will bear a soul for her. The Ginger Phile is from the exotic land of Wisconsin, where she had daily inner turmoil over whether she was a ginger or a daywalker. So far, three of three votes say daywalker. She begs to differ, as someone recently told her they would want to be with her if they were biking at night because she is so pale.
