Should You Use a Diffuser on Curly Red Hair?

Should You Use a Diffuser on Curly Red Hair?
I don't think she used a diffuser.

A friend of mine posted this on my Facebook page:

Do you use a diffuser? For awhile now I’ve just forgone drying my hair ever and just let it air dry but I’m really tired of frozen hair and being freezing every winter….

Here’s my response:

Oh gosh. Diffusers. The eternal question. I try not to, because it looks so much better when it air dries/my arms get tired pretty quickly. But, yeah, the frozen hair that’s still wet even though you washed it 8 hours ago gets pretty old after a while. For a little while I had a salon type of hair dryer that I just sat under. Lately, I’ve been starting to use my diffuser a little more often, and there have been a few times where my hair has come out looking incredible. Usually though, I employ the “plopping” technique, using a microfiber cloth from Target to towel dry it a little bit; you can also use a T-shirt to do this. (Regular towels cause frizz.) Also, I LOVE this question. Let me know what you end up doing. I may just end up following you into diffuser-land.

What are your thoughts? Do you use a diffuser? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂

The Ginger Phile has had the unfortunate disposition of being a ginger since birth. She has tried various medications to cure her gingervitis, including therapies such as tantrum-throwing. Her efforts have been to no avail. Instead, she is trying to write it out, via this blog. Unfortunately, she doesn't think it will bear a soul for her. The Ginger Phile is from the exotic land of Wisconsin, where she had daily inner turmoil over whether she was a ginger or a daywalker. So far, three of three votes say daywalker. She begs to differ, as someone recently told her they would want to be with her if they were biking at night because she is so pale.
