Up-Update: Well, boo. I thought I had these issues solved, but it turns out my linked listing are not viewable in mobile browsers. Makes my upset. I'm restoring the listing while there's still time to see what's going on for the 17th.
Update: As thought, more last-minute St. Patrick's events are coming in. So now that my security issues with my calendar app seem to be resolved, I'm testing dropping in my old iframe calendar listings for Wednesday and Thursday.
I continue to paste select highlighted events while I work out how to get my Calendar to feed into the article. Please check my full schedule, which gets added to constantly, at my web app.
Flash! The chicagonow.com site finally upgraded to WordPress' Gutenberg system. Bad News: I can no longer link to my calendar articles through an <iframe> tag to my Google Calendar. Until I get this issue settled, I've pasted in "hard" copy of my current GCal listings, which I may or may not be able to update as I try to figure this out.
No bad news to report this week. Instead, we finally have a few events on a Monday, a new retro-beer from Seipp Brewing, and Two Brothers reopens its Warrenville taproom.
Update: As of Friday, we heave learned that Pokro Brewing in Griffith, IN will be closing down as of Saturday. The brewer had a four-year run. Details below.
I'm very late with this article, and still need to add events to it after it's published. Seems I am still working out a big freelance project, and I had a colonoscopy Thursday. I only bring this up as a way of urging any other guys over 40 reading this to keep their exams up to date...
I have a little time now between long, long calendar articles about ICBW and Dark Lord Day to slip in a beer. It’s a special edition that I picked up in March, so I’d best write it up while it’s still available. Two Brothers Artisan Brewing celebrates their 22nd anniversary this year. Starting out as... These were the seven Illinois beers, from seven different breweries, that won medals this week at the prestigious World Beer Cup 2018. The awards, announced Thursday as part of the Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville, are sometimes called the “Olympics of Beer Competitions,” held every other year. The Illinois winners were among the 8,234 beers... Read more »
I thought the winter weather in Chicago would be gone by now. Well, it is warming up slightly. Just enough to enjoy various holidays: 4/20, Record Store Day, and Earth Day. And enjoy them with some beer...
Hmm… that headline somehow doesn’t sound like very much fun, does it? Let me go on: Two Brothers Brewing Co. is hosting an exclusive “Nail Pulling Party” at the Two Brothers brewery in Warrenville, Saturday, April 21. The party is in celebration of their annual opening of their beer archives where they will feature rare... Read more »
Well, Daylight Savings just hit me harder than I thought it would. I thought I had gotten enough sleep Sunday morning, but all day long it was, like, "Who the hell moved the Sun!?"
Ravinia Brewing Company's plans to build a brewpub in Highland Park have been delayed after the Ravinia Festival sent a request for them to pay a fee to license the "Ravinia" name. The story in the Chicago Tribune notes that the name "Ravinia" was first applied to a village annexed to Highland Park in 1988, and that other restaurants in the area have been using the "Ravinia" name with no issues.
Meantime, it's a busy week: first "312 Day" for Goose island fans, "Pi Day" for math fans, and coming up to St. Patrick's Day. I'll get a weekend event listing posted shortly, for as many events that I can find that offer something beside Green Lite beer and "Car Bombs". And by the way: St. Patrick's" is okay, "St. Pat's" and "St. Paddy," too. But "Patty" is a girl's name...
