Update: Josh Noel at the Tribune has broken the story Thursday: Half Acre Beer Co. is selling its original 4257 N. Lincoln Ave. brewing space to Hop Butcher for the World. The move will give the contract brewer a permanent space with its own taproom and takeout shop. Half Acre will consolidate operations at its much larger brewery, 2050 W. Balmoral Ave. Hop Butcher, originally South Loop Brewing, started out brewing at the late Aquanaut Brewing, and has been making its fruity IPAs at other locations, primarily Miskatonic. The purchase also affects the nanobrewer Keeping Together (info below), which will continue to brew at the Lincoln Ave. space until October. (Article)
One of Chicago's long-time beer spots is getting a name change. Paddy Long's Beer & Bacon Pub on W. Diversey announced that after 14 years, they have changed their names to Max & Issy’s Pizzeria. The new place is already open, serving New York style pizza with wines and beer.
This week gets busy due to Cinco de Mayo falling snack in the middle of it. I have tried to sort out events at knwon good beer spots, even if they might not mention specific beer specials. Just trying to weed out the same olf "buckeys of Corona."

It's another perfect storm of Cinco de Mayo, Kentucky Derby, "May the 4th," and big beer fests. So most Derby event focus on bourbon; but not all. And a lot of our favorite watering holes might have something light instead of crafty, but food choices are excellent.
And tickets go on sale Sunday for Great taste of the Midwest. You can go to Madison to buy them, or take a chance on the mail lottery...
