Things have calmed down from Illinois Craft Beer Week to the lead-in to Memorial Day. A lot of summer holidays stay pretty light, unless it’s in a town with a parade or other observation.
They may be another new brewer opening this coming weekend. Howard Street Brewing, billing itself as “Chicago’s Northernmost Taproom,” has been trying to get open for nearly two years, owing to COVID, this, that and the other thing. Update: I see confirmation of an opening on Thursday, May 26 at 3 pm. 1617 W Howard Street, Chicago.
We very rarely hear any events featuring Käretäs Brewing, a small outfit mostly contract brewing limited batch releases. Their releases are done to support charitable causes, including veterans’ group. For this week, Käretäs is offering its 2017 Archangel M Belgian Tripel at The Open Door in Clarendon Hills, 20 S. Prospect Ave. The bottle shop is donating $1 for every beer purchased to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
