Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, June 4-6

Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, June 4-6
"First Weekend at the Cottage," from the "Beer Belongs" series of ads by the U.S. Brewers Foundation, 1954

We are noting that the Illinois State Legislature has passed HB 2620, an omnibus bill containing key provisions of the Brewers Economic & Equity Relief (BEER) Act, intended to help craft breweries recover from the COVID pandemic. The bill goes to Gov. Pritzker for his signature.
The act creates a new “Class 3” license for small Illinois brewers, that will allow them to continue curbside pickup and limited self-distribution. The distribution will also apply to brewers that also make wine or distill spirits. Class 3 license holders will have access to a new ‘Beer Showcase Permit,’ allowing them to serve their beer in off-site venues such as farmers markets, street festivals, and other events.

Next up we have a brightly fruited offering with real Raspberries and Blackberries aged in spicy Rye Whiskey barrels. For your third course, a rich double barrel offering that has been aged first in Bourbon barrels and then in Cognac barrels. Then its time for a little desert, this version pairs Chocolate & Pecans together perfectly with the Giant’s sweet side. Finishing off the series is our idea of the perfect latté. With a custom blend of beans from Ten Drops Coffee and a generous dose of Madagascar Vanilla pods, this is the only way to end your Quiet Giant tasting experience. Don’t miss out getting yours! 3:00 pm • “Coaster King” – Maplewood Brewery X Goldfinger collaboration
Goldfinger Brewing Co., 513 Rogers St., Downers Grove, IL (630) 541-9728 Map
This Saturday, we’re tapping some very limited kegs of the collaboration beer we brewed at Maplewood Brewery & Distillery, Coaster King. It is a traditional Kölsch-style beer; a light, fruity, and easy drinking German style ale.
What makes this style of beer so unique is, in spite of it using ale yeast, it is fermented at cooler temperatures and lagered (cold stored) for an extended period of time giving it a crisp, yet aromatic quality to it.
Most of this beer will be distributed throughout Chicagoland, but we will have a couple of kegs to serve in the taproom and a limited amount of 4-packs for sale (limit 1 4-pack per person). While we don’t have a traditional “stange” glass to serve the beer in, we will be serving the beer in our small .3L mugs (sorry, no .5L nor 1L). The Germans in Köln (where Kölsch was invented) serve their beer in small glasses to ensure peak freshness and cold temperature from start to finish.
Due to the small quantity of draft, we will not be filling growlers nor crowlers of the Coaster King.
4-packs will be available for purchase through our website and in person (limit 1 per person). Please note, if an online order contains more than 1 4-pack, the entire order will be voided.

Up In Smoke and Madern Make Sushi will provide the sustenance. More details on entertainment as they become available
