Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, June 11-13

Chicago Craft Beer Weekend, June 11-13

Not much in the way of headlines right now, except to note that the full reopening of dining and drinking establishments is on schedule. Check below for some brewery craft fairs, and anniversary events!

However, I did miss the chance to give another advance warning about tickets for the Great Taste of the Midwest. Tickets were to be sold only to mail orders postmarked on June 7. I mentioned that a few weeks earlier, but it sure would have been nice of me to mention it again. I’m sorry.

Featured brews:

  • Pseudo Sue Pale Ale – This single-hop pale ale showcases the Citra hop for a well-balanced beer that is delicate in body with a mild bitterness in the finish. She roars with ferocious aromas of grapefruit, citrus, mango and evergreen. Pseudo Sue’s unique taste is clean and bright with just enough bite!
  • King Sue – This full-bodied, hazy double IPA is Citra-hopped with a juicy combination of mango, orange, and pineapple flavors finishing with a grapefruit aroma and ferocious bite.
  • Safety Porpoises – In the Upper Midwest, they say the only two seasons are Winter and Road Construction. When the opportunity presented itself to combine copious amounts of all the stickiest, haze inducing, oil-laden hops we could find with our buddies at Black Stack, we dove right in and strapped on all our PPE because, ya know, safety porpoises.
  • Hop Butcher Collaboration: Hot Dog Time Machine – What. Is. A Hot Dog Time Machine? We’re so glad you asked! To begin, we have to explore why it even matters. Our amigos at Hop Butcher for the World shared the same interest as us in exploring the alternate reality of the “fluffy” IPA. We threw multiple types of wheat into our fluff capacitor, heavily hopped it everywhere except the 88 minute boil, and fermented with yeast primed for transtemporal travel. Last year was certainly the wurst of times, but now it’s time to ketchup with us on our journey and relish in this hot dog fueled time travel adventure.
  • Dragon Fandango – dragon fruit, mango and passion fruit are combined to create this unique kettle sour beer. So Raise a glass, dance the fandango and celebrate these tropical fruits.
  • Cherry Fandango – Pouring a seductively red hue, with aromas reminiscent of cinnamon crusted cherry pie; this kettle sour treat is both tart and sweet. No pits about it, just the cherry on top, bottom and middle.
  • Pineapple Papaya Fandango – Conjure up warm-weather vibes with this kettle sour. Tropical papaya and fresh-squeezed pineapple juice will transport your taste buds to a tropical wonderland. Sweet, tart, and then sweet again.
  • Term Oil Coconut Monster Cookie – Inspired by one of our favorite cold-weather treats, this bourbon-barrel aged stout will warm you with notes of fresh monster cookies baked with heaps of honey-glazed toasted coconut, a touch of peanut butter, and candy coated chocolates.
