For people doing the “pitchers and catchers report” countdown to spring training (that’s Wednesday, February 12, by the way, for both the Cubs and White Sox. Full squad workouts begin the 17th), here’s another little something to look forward to with baseball season.
So far, I’m taking information from Goose Island’s news release, which says the beer will be released “in early March.” Pending confirmation, this suggests the beer will be on tap at the Goose Island taprooms before the start of the season.
“This easy drinking, refreshing, golden ale is perfect for a day at the ballpark or hanging out at the tailgate. Balanced cereal notes with honeysuckle and a subtle fruitiness make this beer the perfect pairing for some all-American baseball,” they go on to say.
For a limited-time, fans who purchase Sox Golden Ale at Guaranteed Rate Field will get a special edition can with a peel-back label revealing the 2020 schedule (while supplies last). Sox Golden Ale will also be available to fans outside of the stadium at retailers throughout Chicago.
The beer with the special cans will also be available to fans at SoxFest, being held this Friday and Saturday, January 24 and 25, at McCormick Place West. I just might have to take them up on the invitation for a media badge. There’s beer involved. And White Sox.
Goose Island has previously done a collaboration with the Chicago Cubs, 1060 Wit, for the 2017 season. Since then, the Goose has become the “official craft beer partner for the White Sox.”
