Chicago Craft Beer Week January 27 - 30

Chicago Craft Beer Week January 27 - 30

This week’s big beer merger news comes out of Detroit. On January 21, Tenth and Blake Beer Company, the U.S. craft division of Molson Coors, announced that they would acquire Atwater Brewery. Atwater was founded in 1997, originally to bring back the Bohemian Lager style beer made by Stroh’s, a Detroit favorite. They operate three tap houses in eastern Michigan, and have expanded into spirits and, yes, hard seltzers. Associated Press story.

Molson Coors’ Mergers & Acquisitions have not yet been as voracious in the United States, compared to Anheuser Busch. So far, they have purchased Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing, Saint Archer, Terrapin, Hop Valley and Revolver Brewing.
