If we say “Spring has sprung,” wouldn’t we say, conversely, “Fall has fallen?” No?
One thing fall brings to Chicago beer fans, though, is the release of Goose Island Beer Co.’s Bourbon County Brand Stout and its many variants. Most of these be be available on Black Wednesday (the day before Thanksgiving) at select locations on draft, and in bottles on Black Friday. But more about theses later.
The first event in Bourbon County season is Prop Day, which allows people to sample the Bourbon County variants, and a bottle release for Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout.
Prop Day 2019 takes place Sunday, November 17 at the Goose Island Brewery tap room, 1800 W. Fulton St., Chicago. Bottle Pick-Up is from noon to 4 pm, with a street market going until 5 pm.
Admission to Prop Day is $30, with tickets available by lottery. You’ll be able to enter the lottery once a day, starting Monday, September 30at 12:00 noon Central. The lottery closes October 7 at 11:59 am. Entries will be accepted at the main Prop Day site, Gooseisland.com/propday. Winners will be chosen October 9, and notified by email. They’ll have 48 hours to claim tickets, after which the tickets will be offered in a secondary drawing.
Your Prop Day ticket includes the option to purchase two bottles of Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout and one bottle of Bourbon County Café de Olla; a custom Bourbon County tote bag, seven tokens for 3oz. pours of Bourbon County Variant samples, and access to the street market outside of the brewery before and after bottle pickup. The price of the beer bottles themselves will be determined closer to Prop Day.
The street market with feature local Chicago businesses, sampling their unique goods made with or inspired by Bourbon County Stout. There’ll also be music, food trucks, and plenty of beer for what is likely going to be a brisk November day.
