These were the seven Illinois beers, from seven different breweries, that won medals this week at the prestigious World Beer Cup 2018.

The awards, announced Thursday as part of the Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville, are sometimes called the “Olympics of Beer Competitions,” held every other year.

Here’s a look at Illinois’ medal haul:

Gold Medals

Hook & Hatchet
Nevin’s Brewing Co., Plainfield, IL.
Category43: Vienna-Style Lager
Notes: “Vienna malt lager that is hopped enough to balance out the delicate caramel notes pulled from the malt.” 5.0%

Biere de Voleur
Brewery: Horse Thief Hollow, Chicago, IL
Category 62: Belgian- and French-Style Ale
Notes: “This amber French-style farmhouse ale has a toasty biscuit aroma and a toffee-like malt sweetness rounded out with mildly fruity and spicy yeast esters.” 7.75% ABV

Brewery: Galena Brewing Co., Galena, IL
Category 88: Classic Irish-Style Dry Stout

Silver medals

Werk Force Brewing Co., Plainfield, IL
Category 21: Historical Beer
Notes: “European Farmhouse Ale, using an old world method of mashing malt with Barley straw in an oak barrel. Lightly hopped with Czech Saaz, this will be fermented in our favorite barrel WB-11. This barrel has been home to 14 different beers, building a ‘barrel culture’.”

Domaine DuPage
Two Brothers Brewing Co., Warrenville, IL
Category 62: Belgian- and French-Style Ale
Notes:This French-style country ale is deep amber in color. With a toasty, sweet caramel start, it finishes with just enough hops to clean off the palate.” 5.9% abv

Bronze medals

Tuna Extra Pale Ale
Half Acre Beer Co., Chicago
Category 17: Session India Pale Ale
Notes: A year-round offering, available in cans throughout the area. Half Acre’s description: “Tuna is rife with attributes that make for ongoing pleasure without the heft. Too much weight while exploring the ocean is dangerous. Watermelon, peach, guava. A denser body to hold up to the sweeter finish. Lemon lime citrus zest, tropical fruit juices.” 4.7% ABV

Brewery: Miller Brewing Co., Chicago, IL (Yeah, I’m not sure how this counts, either, but I’ll take this one)
Category 49: American-Style Lager or American-Style Cream Ale
Notes:Born in the Land of Sky Blue Waters.”
