Here’s a list of the Illinois that medaled in last weekend’s Great American Beer Festival. The 2017 GABF was held in Denver, CO, under auspices of the Brewers Association, and saw 7,923 competition entries from 2,217 U.S. breweries.

Medals were awarded to 286 beers in 96 beer style categories. Here are winners from Illinois. On Tour Brewing of Chicago came home with two medals and was acknoledged as  “Very Small Brewing Company of the Year.” Halstorm of Tinley Park won in a field of 408 entries for American-style India Pale Ale, the most competitive category at GABF.

Category 4: Fruit Wheat Beer – 90 Entries
 Silver:  Purple Line, Smylie Brotherss Brewing Co., Evanston, IL

Category 43: Munich-Style Helles – 105 Entries
Bronze: Munich Light, Emmett’s Brewing Co. – Wheaton, IL

Category 49: Bock – 36 Entries

Gold: Low Boy, On Tour Brewing Co., Chicago, IL
Silver:  Rock Out with Maibock Out, Hailstorm Brewing Co., Tinley Park, IL

Category 50: German-Style Doppelbock or Eisbock – 51 Entries
 Silver:  Spectator, On Tour Brewing Co., Chicago, IL
Category 60: American-Style India Pale Ale – 408 Entries
Gold: Prairie Madness, Hailstorm Brewing Co., Tinley Park, IL
Category 75: German-Style Altbier – 53 Entries
Silver:  It’s Your Fault, Piece Pizzeria & Brewery, Chicago, IL
Category 82: Belgian- and French-Style Ale – 53 Entries
 Silver:  Biere de Voleur, Horse Thief Hollow Brewing Co., Chicago, IL
Category 85: Belgian-Style Tripel – 77 Entries
 Silver:  Rapunzel, Corridor Brewery & Provisions, Chicago, IL
Category 94: Oatmeal Stout – 57 Entries
Bronze: Fat Pug, Maplewood Brewery & Distillery, Chicago, IL
On Tour, led by Mark Poffenberger & Mark Legenza, was also named “Very Small Brewing Company and Brewmasterof the Year.”
