The Bavarian Lodge, 1800 Ogden Ave, Lisle, IL (630) 241-4701
Join us this Saturday evening as we tap a very rare cask from Brauerei Hofstetten, in St. Martin, Austria: Hofstetten G’Frozen: Iced IPA hopped with Hallertauer Bavarian Mandarin hops! A cross between an IPA and a Heller Eisbock. 11.4% ABV.
For this strong, pale and Bock-like beer, Hofstetten used a top-fermenting ale yeast (instead of a traditional bottom-fermenting lager yeast) and hopped it with Austrian Müehlviertel hops. After five weeks of lagering, the beer was frozen down several times, and then the ice crystals were removed, which concentrated and intensified the brew. The beer was then dry-hopped for 6 weeks with Bavaria Mandarin hops, followed by an additional cask dry-hopping, also with Bavaria Mandarin. Hofstetten is calling the brew G’frozen – Iced IPA.
We are very happy to share this cask-only brew with you as less than ten made it to the United States from this very small batch. Don’t miss it!
