Hey, I thought things would slow down in the weekend before Christmas, with New Year’s Eve coming up and all. How wrong I was.

Friday, December 19

11:00 am – 4:00 am ♦ Ugly Sweater + Bad Santa Party

Were you naughty in 2014 and expect to find coal in your stocking this year? Then head to Timothy O’Toole’s for a Bad Santa soiree. The Streeterville pub will dish out boozy “cookies and milk” flavored Santa Shots for $3, along with $5 pints of winter brews including Sam Adams Winter Lager, Revolution Eugene Porter and Deschutes Jubelale. Have your photo taken with Bad Santa while wearing your most hideous holiday ensemble. Naughty prizes will be given out throughout the day (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.) to those donning tacky attire. Chef Corey Grupe’s lunch, dinner and late night dining menus will be available.

3:00 pm ♦ Winter War

Local Option will host its final beer event of 2014: “Winter War”. The courage of Finnish troops who successfully repelled invasions by air, land and sea from the Soviet Union in December 1939 will be honored by the tapping of the most defiant and subversive beers available. Highlights include barrel aged creations from Pipeworks, Goose Island, Surly, Three Floyds and Founders. Special celebrations will take place to honor Simo Häyhä – a Finnish soldier who acquired the most number sniper kills (505) in any major war during the Winter War.

Urban Legend Brewing Company will be releasing our much anticipated Russian Imperial Stout, Cold War! Make sure to come by the brewery, as this will only be available in our taproom. Cold War will be on tap (along with several other awesome surprises), and we will have bombers available for you to take home and cellar or drink right away. There will be a four bomber limit.
At 6:30, our good friend Chicago Pizza Boss will be here serving up his signature brick oven pizzas and other goodies.
Make sure you show up in uniform (American or even Soviet), and your first beer is on us!
Make sure you stop by and get your Cold War before it’s gone!

The FULL line-up will include BCS, BCS Barleywine, BCS Coffee, & BCS Vanilla Rye.
In addition, there will be a RAFFLE for your chance to win a 22oz bottle of BCS Proprietor’s or a 22oz bottle of BCS Vanilla Rye! Raffle tickets are $3 with a MAX of 2 per person.

7:00 pm ♦ 12 Beers of Fistmas: Revolution Brewing’s Biggest Tap Takeover Ever!

Dunlay’s on the Square and Revolution Brewing are teaming up for a tap takeover of momentous proportions for the holidays. The 12 Beers of Fistmas will mark the biggest tap takeover in the history of Revolution Brewing. Pints will go between $6.50 and $12 each. The barrels will be tapped beginning at 7 pm on December 19th and last until the final swig is taken. 12 Beers of Revolution Fistmas varieties are:

Each day, Poag Mahone’s is tapping a rare craft beer and releasing a tasty new burger! We’ll be revealing the burgers and beers DAILY  by announcing them exclusively via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Some of the beers are so hard to come by we only have 40 pours! All of our burgers are made with grass fed beef and the combinations our chefs have come up with are quite unique.

Drinking & Writing – A Beer Carol

The Drinking & Writing Theater’s holiday show A Beer Carol returns to The Drinking & Writing Theater at Haymarket  to December 28 on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. with Sunday 4:00 p.m. shows on December 21 and 28 and an 8:00 p.m. show on Monday and Tuesday, December 22 and 23.
A Beer Carol is a live radio play that tells the story of the evil CEO Bud Miller of Milweiser, the large, heartless brewers of swill. Haunted by the ghosts of the four ingredients of beer–hops, barley, water and yeast–and faced with his past, present and his possible ill-fated future, Bud Miller must decide if he can change into a better human being and a better brewer.
A Beer Carol, written by Sean Benjamin and Steve Mosqueda, stars the two writers and Carolyn Benjamin from the Drinking & Writing shows God vs. Hall & Oates, Barnstormers, American Variety 1 and 2, and The Earliest Known Photo of Men Drinking Beer.

The Holiday Season is fully upon us and what better way to celebrate than by inviting Chicago’s favorite (and best) holiday-themed rock & roll band to our stage. That’s right, the SNOW ANGELS are making their Empty Bottle debut tonight and, holy smokes, it’s YEAR 12 of this rockin’ tradition. 12 YEARS! 12 Days of Xmas! Will their be 12 drummers drumming? There’s only one way to find out. Just rock on down to the Bottle tonight because the SNOW ANGELS will be bringing along some very special guests, plus we’ll have specialty eggnog and Revolution Brewing on the cheap all night!
