Here’s a whole week of all the Chicago events I could find that involve craft beer, Halloween parties, pumpkin carving, pumpkin beer, and general hijinks. Those who want a little more sanity in their lives can see my accompanying article of Non-Halloween events. And I’m putting Day of the Dead events in this list, too!

Monday, October 27

Franklin Tap Pumpkin Beer Festival

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Franklin Tap will bring awareness to the cause by partnering with The Lynn Sage Foundation’s “In Good Taste” campaign. Through Oct. 31, Franklin Tap will feature an array of pumpkin craft brews on draft (outlined below) with a portion of the proceeds being donated to The Lynn Sage Foundation, a Chicago-based organization committed to finding a cure for breast cancer.

A primary feature of the evenings draft list will be beers from Michigan producers: Founders Brewing Co., Dark Horse Brewing Co., and Jolly Pumpkin Brewery Representatives from the respective wholesalers will be present to discuss the Michigan beer scene in great detail and critique costumes.

An Evening of Pumpkin Beers is back and so is Starry Night in Sleepy Hollow, our 6.0% Pumpkin Stout, making an appearance for its second year. At 6pm, we’ll tap six delightful pumpkin beers from some fellow breweries, including our Pumpkin Stout. The following beers will be available individually, as well as via a flight of 5oz pours.

WhirlyBall is hosting New Belgium Brewing for a WhirlyBall Challenge. Grab your friends and come begin the Halloween celebrations at WhirlyBall with a costume party and specialty beer from New Belgium Brewing. Enjoy free games of Whirlyball and a chance to meet and beat the brewers, the New Belgium Rangers. Combine good food, great beers, and a costume party at WhirlyBall, you’ll have a great start to your Halloween festivities. Bus Trip to Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare
Departing from Lottie’s Pub, 1925 W. Cortland, and The Pony, 1638 West Belmont, Chicago
Pioneer Tavern Group will host a Haunted House Bus Trip to Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare on October 30. A bus will leave from both Lottie’s in Bucktown and The Pony in Lakeview, and the event will begin with registration at both locations (full schedule by location below).
A $40 per person package includes transportation to Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare on a coach bus, refreshments to and from, and haunted house admission. Purchase bus tickets online at  Lottie’s or the Pony’s links above.

High Noon Saloon provides both the pumpkins and the carving tools for this do-it-yourself pumpkin carving party and displays the final creations as part of the Halloween theme post-party. The free event kicks-off at 7 p.m.; arrive early as pumpkins are first come, first served. Draft beer specials, which range from $6-$8, include seasonal offerings such as Southern Tier Pumpking, and Great Lakes Nosferatu, and year-round brews such as Rogue Dead Guy Ale.
High Noon mixologist Ben Berry-Ryan also debuts the $9 Fall in Love cocktail, which will make the soon-to-launch fall cocktail list. The Fall in Love is made with Old Forester Bourbon, The Bitter Truth Pimento Dram Allspice liqueur, SNAP Gingersnap liqueur and a muddled mix of Allspice seasoning, nutmeg, candied walnuts, fresh apple and honey. The cocktail is shaken over ice, double strained, and served straight up in a rocks glass with a candied walnut-honey rim.

Get ready for a whooping good time at Shoreline Brewery we host a post Halloween Costume Party, with the band Stealin’ The Farm performing beginning at 10pm.
Last year was the first Halloween Costume Party hosted by Shoreline and participants had a great time celebrating as Stealin’ The Farm played throughout the night. Come in your best costume and enjoy an evening of great food, great music, and of course, great beer. Contestants will be judged for best costume and prizes will be awarded. First place will receive a half barrel of beer worth $150. Second place will receive a sixth barrel of beer worth $60, and third place will receive two growlers worth $30.
Stealin’ The Farm is a band focused on original material. They are native to the Chicago and NW Indiana area and perform sets of both original music and covers. They embark on a journey with only a map of songs and stories to guide you, which guarantees to keep you moving and entertained through the night.

Enjoy Day of the Dead beers, taste some Dia de los Meurtos-inspired dishes created by executive chef Cleetus Friedman and celebrate the holiday around The Altar designed by the Fountainhead team. Guests are encouraged to bring pictures and mementos of loved ones to place on the shrine.
There will also be complimentary Day of the Dead face painting. A firkin of Revolution Brewing Eugene porter infused with chili and vanilla will also be tapped to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Attire is come as you are, but holiday-inspired costumes are more than appropriate! The event is free and the draft prices range from $6-$12.
