I was utterly daunted by the task of keeping up with all, or even some, of the Chicago Craft Beer Week events out there. Partly because when I started doing this blog, I didn’t really have a job. Now I do, and it takes away from time to spend on this. That means I miss out on connecting with my beer-loving friends (and the occasional click on those ads). But now that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, I’m going to break down the memorial Day weekend one day at a time! As always, I will try to feature new, small local brewers, but I always have room for Bourbon County Stout pourings.

Imperial Black Saison (Collaboration with Ten Ninety) 10.1% abv, 40 SRM, 50 IBU. A saison just like our friends at Ten Ninety like it…BIG. This beer is brewed with an assortment of highly-kilned and black roasted malts to accent a subtle hop spiciness and the unique fruitiness of Chicago’s own, Omega Yeast Labs, proprietary Saison yeast strain. This is a farmhouse ale with an urban approach.
Avidity IPA 7.4% abv, 8 SRM, 75 IBU. With ardent desire comes painstaking patience. The first beer we’ll ever release represents the extreme eagerness, enthusiasm, and balance that must be maintained while sorting through construction timelines, attorney fees, and hop contracts. This balanced IPA bursts forward with a blend of juicy citruses, tropical fruits, and pine resins from five different hops, including Galaxy and Simcoe. A sturdy malt backbone keeps the plethora of Australian and American hops in balance. Did we say “balance” enough
