I need to apologize for the many events that I found out about after the previous article went to “press” (WordPress, that is). And to remind you that new events are posted all the time to the Facebook/Beeronaut page all the time.
Tickets now on sale for Ballpark Brew Fest
Schaumburg Baseball Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg, IL (847) 925-0183
Binny’s present the Ballpark Brew Fest, Schaumburg’s first annual beer fest, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
This festival features specialty beers from over 40 breweries. Early Bird general admission tickets are $25 each and VIP tickets are $50 each, through December 31. Food and live music will also be at hand.
Tickets are now available at www.ticketmaster.com. Please visit ballparkbrewfest.com for more information on the event and event news.
Note: This fest was announced for last year, but was called off when ballpark officials decided they wouldn’t be able to properly organize it in time. Presumably, with this much earlier ticket scheduling and Binny’s sponsorship, it should be ready.

Half Acre’s Big Hugs release
Half Acre Beer Company Tap Room, 4257 N Lincoln Ave., Chicago (773) 248-4038
Five years ago we knew it was time to brew a threatening stout emblazoned with a pretty kitten. We decided on a coffee impregnated imperial stout, and that we’d name this unknowing kitten Big Hugs. Each year we try to brew a beer that’s hammered out wide, leaving no one feature dangling out as an unwanted henchman. The Tun is punished with scads of grain before pulling out the stained wort of a blackened earth. The kettle rolls this liquid dim end over end while searing the balance to its back and casting the fate into your glass. You’ve seen Big Hugs appear as a land scorching demon. You’ve seen him as the prancing pansy. He’s taken on cities, castles, yule tide glee and a mechanized version of himself. It’s this year that Hugs finds his way into history and sits down with Earth’s one-time leader. The apex predators of yesterday always make room for an incredible new force.
Come by on Sunday for some Imperial Coffee Stout cheer. We’ll have food and beverages available from some of our friends, as well as some special firkins and other surprises. There shall be a cash line and a card line for whichever payment method you’d prefer. As always, the coffee for Big Hugs came from our friends at Dark Matter Coffee.

2:00 pm ♦ Map Room Coats and Cookies Benefit
The Map Room, 1949 N. Hoyne, Chicago (773) 807-2361
Map Room will be hosting a special benefit for the students at the Morton School of Excellence in East Garfield Park.
98% of the students at the school are from low income families, so the goal of the benefit is to raise money to buy winter coats for these deserving girls and boys. There will be raffle prizes, plenty of baked goods, homemade chili, great beers, and more.
Everything kicks off at 2 pm and will run until they’re out of cookies and beer! If you also have some gently used winter coats that are suitable for kids (aged 6-13) that you’d be willing to donate, the bar will gladly pass them on.
And if you can’t make it Sunday, feel free to drop by before then and donate whatever you can.
