There was an old joke that defined mixed emotions this way: Seeing your mother-in-law drive off a cliff in your brand new Lexus. That’s not politically correct today, and here are three new mixed emotions that are even more incorrect:
* We admire the life-saving work of our first-responders, Navy Seals, CIA agents and border patrols, yet lately referring to them as this large menacing object we snarl “big government”
* We admire the life-saving work of our doctors and hospitals, yet lately referring to them as this large thieving object we label the “medical establishment”
* We admire the life-building work of our classroom teachers, let lately referring to them as this large menacing object we indict as “pension crooks”
Here’s the problem. When you start objectifying any group of fellow citizens, it’s too easy to start de-humanzing and demonizing them. It’s time we stop…!
