15 St. Patrick’s Day and Weekend Restaurant Specials

St. Patrick’s Day weekend is one of the biggest day drinking holidays of the whole year and the perfect way to welcome in patio season in Chicago! Restaurants know that the Chirish need a chaser for all their green beer and I’ve been compiling the best food specials all over the city.


Chicago q
Chicago q will offer cash-and-carry Pulled Pork Sandwiches for hungry bar-hoppers and parade-goers on Division Street and in the Gold Coast for $8. The sandwiches feature Chef/Partner Lee Ann Whippen’s award-winning Pulled Pork Shoulder on a pretzel bun with choice of sauce including Original Mild, Original Spicy, South Carolina Mustard or Eastern North Carolina Vinegar. Sandwiches can be purchased from Chicago q’s patio from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. Corned Kobe Beef Special will be available for lunch and dinner from Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15 and on Tuesday, March 17 for $17 at lunch and $22 at dinner.

Bacino’s on Wacker
Bacino’s, Italian restaurant known for the deep-dish pizza, is going green in honor of Irish culture and tradition for the March 14th St. Patrick’s Day parade and celebration. Patio seating and an outdoor bar will be available for customers who wish to be within the heart of the sites and sounds of the celebration. Featured Irish inspired food and drink will include: Corned Beef & Cabbage thin crust pizza, Hot Apple Cider, Green Beer, Hot “Adult Cider”, Crown Apple and Irish Coffee. Located on Michigan and Wacker, the Downtown restaurant is perfectly placed within walking distance of the parade route and alongside the scenic (green) river.

Frasca Pizzeria & Wine Bar
Frasca’s famous Guinness Pizza – the only of its kind – is back for one day only, Tuesday, March 17.  The infamous wood-fired oven thin crust pie goes for $13, and is made with a real Guinness stout crust and topped with béchamel sauce, roasted onions, fingerling potatoes, bacon, three cheeses and a sunny-side up egg.

The Smoke Daddy
Wicker Park’s legendary BBQ pit, The Smoke Daddy, brings back its lip-smacking, once-a-year Smoke Daddy Smoked Reuben Sandwich ($10) for the St. Patrick’s week (March 16 – 23).  The corned beef is smoked for several hours until tender, sliced thin, then topped with an Irish twist on Daddy’s house-made coleslaw and melted Swiss cheese, and finally served on fresh, toasted rye.

Crosby’s Kitchen & Dunlay’s
Both neighborhood Dunlay’s locations (Logan Square and Lincoln Park) and Crosby’s Kitchen will feature a traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage special ($15) as well as Shepherd’s Pie ($12) on the weekend before St. Pat’s, March 14 & 15. Over the weekend the restaurants will also feature Irish classics like house-made Corned Beef Hash & Eggs and Irish Coffee

Mrs. Murphy & Sons
The North Center-based, family-owned restaurant – boasting two Irish bars, five dining rooms and even a grocery store selling delectables from Ireland – will host an array of Irish-themed music, food, drink, story-telling and cultural events. This includes a special menu of mouth-watering, contemporary Irish cuisine like smoked organic Irish salmon, Dublin Bay prawns, pork belly glazed with Irish honey, and blackcurrant and lemon posset with Irish sea salt shortbread. There’ll also be free tastings of Irish cheese (11am-4pm, March 7th), Irish candy (11am-4pm, March 8th,) and Guinness Blonde (March 12th) at its grocery shop.

Lucky Strike
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all month long with its newest Burger of the Month creation – The Irish Burger. Paired with a Guinness, the Irish Burger is a 1/3 pound ground beef patty seasoned with salt and pepper, stacked with Bangers, shredded iceberg lettuce, Tillamook White Cheddar, grilled onions, and Guinness BBQ sauce served on a brioche bun along with a side of potato chips. Lucky Strike’s Irish Burger will be sold in all venues from March 1 to March 31 for a $12.95 SRP.

Weber Grill restaurants (River North, Schaumburg and Lombard)
Weber Grill will be offering an Irish-take on one of the restaurants’ most iconic dishes, Beer Can Chicken, during St. Patrick’s Day week. Executive Chef Larry Donahue will be transforming the dish into a true Irish feast using Guinness beer to create the perfect au jus. The restaurants will also be serving hand-trimmed Corned Beef, smoked with hickory wood for 10-12 hours, and then piled high on rye for sandwiches and served with cabbage and potatoes.

The Gage
Available during lunch and dinner service, The Gage’s St. Patrick’s Day menu is available from Friday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 17. In addition to the ever-popular Fish & Chips, a signature on The Gage’s menu, highlights include: bangers and mash (Guinness mustard, onion jam) for $18, house made corned beef (braised cabbage, new potato, horseradish crème fraîche) for $20, and a corned beef sandwich (pickled cabbage slaw, Guinness soaked swiss, remoulade) for $14.

Bar Toma
In Chicago, Italians even want to get in on the Irish spirit on St. Patrick’s Day! Chef Tony Mantuano and Chef Erik Freeberg have created special Irish-themed gelato flavors, such as the Lucky Charm Gelato, as well as a Green Crust Pizza ($15) made with melted leeks, spinach and pistachio pesto. With every Green Crust Pizza purchase, guests can enjoy $1 mini glasses of Guinness. These specials will be offered from Saturday, March 14 to Tuesday, March 17.

Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse
From March 14-17, Michael Jordan’s Steak House will be offering Sliced House-Cured Corned Beef Brisket on Red Hen Bakery’s Artisan Rye with stout mustard ($17) on the lunch menu. For the dinnercrowd, the steak house will offer Braised House-Cured Corned Beef Brisket with cabbage fondue and boxty potatoes ($30).

Neighborhood: The Loop


Those looking to ditch the rowdy downtown crowds can escape to Dusek’s in Pilsen for a unique take on St. Patrick’s Day. Dusek’s features beer-centric cuisine, with each menu item specifically crafted to pair with one of the 24 rotating draught beers. On Tuesday, March 17th from 5pm-1am, Dusek’s will feature a St. Patrick’s Day Flight Night. Guests will enjoy three bites paired with three complementary beers for only $15.

  • Soda Bread Strata with Aerated Potter paired with Great Lakes Conway Ale
  • Corned Beef and Cabbage Dumpling with Chive Sour Cream paired with Flying Dog Lucky SOB
  • Sheppard’s Pie Croquette paired with O’Haras Dry Irish Stout

The Virgin Hotel
Situated on the corner of Lake and Wabash Streets, the hotel is converting their street level café Two Zero Three into a full beer garden serving Chicago’s local brews and Bow Truss coffee, house-baked pastries and pretzels available to those looking for to grab-n-go in the throes of the parade. Miss Ricky’s, the ground-level modern American diner will be serving new classics and old diner favorites throughout the day to accompany those trying to escape the crowds, plus special beers and grab-n-go biggie grilled cheese.

Luella’s Southern Kitchen
Luella’s will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, March 20 with some delicious and authentic Irish-based Southern dishes. Dublin’s Lawyer ($18) is an Irish lobster stew with Creole seasoned lobster, roasted mushrooms, Carolina Gold rice and whiskey cream that has become a traditional Southern favorite. Chef/Owner Darnell Reed also will prepare a savory Potato Leek Soup with Smoked Braised Ham Hock ($6). For dessert, you’ll enjoy the luscious Calas, Southern rice beignet served with Irish oatmeal cookie ice cream ($5).

Neighborhood: Lincoln Square


It doesn’t get more Irish than corned beef! Topped with Swiss cheese and slathered with creamy Thousand Island dressing, the official sandwich of the North Atlantic Isle is served just as it should be at Buona. Stop into Buona soon, the Reuben Panini is only offered for a limited time for just $6.25.
