The MLS Cup final is upon us today. Just for the sake of going on the record and getting something up on the blog I figured I’d make a prediction post.
It’s Portland at Columbus. Two teams with potent offenses and defenses that have become solid at the right time.
Portland is hot right now and is probably playing a bit better now, but Columbus is playing at home and it’s a sellout crowd. It’s tough to pick against a home team and those Crew home crowds have been raucous during the playoffs so far.
This should be a tight one, but I’m leaning towards Portland with a 2-1 win. Timbers get an early goal and then in the second half when the Crew push numbers forward the Timbers double the lead before Columbus gets a late one back to make for a tight finish.
Then again, my playoff predictions were so bad that I’m not even going to link it so don’t listen to me.
