But, I digress. I have posted all my Calls To Action for the day, so it is time to move on to other things non-Trump related. Life goes on, amirite or amirite? Although following this saga is like watching a train falling off the elevated tracks in slow mo and you just wanna keep watching….
Anywho, I decided I need to get back to blogging about my passion which is cannabis. One of the biggest debates in the cannabis world is Medical Cannabis vs Recreational Cannabis. Is there a difference? Should we treat them differently?
Here is my take on said debate. As many of you know, I have been a user for now for 45 years. My first encounter was with a bag of Arkansas Red and it was a nickel bag. For those of you who are new to the cannabis world, a nickel bag cost $5 and you got an entire ounce. I am REALLY dating myself, here. I was a freshman at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and it was 1972. I had finally managed to escape from living with my parents. My mother was a narcissistic, highly critical, OCD, hypochondriacal, anxious disaster of a human being. Growing up in that environment, I was pretty much doomed to learn some of those behaviors. I ended up as a very tightly wound narcissist.
But, when I was stoned, OMFG…it was like I was released from that grip of anxiety and tension. I was forced to live in the moment and simply enjoy where I was at the time. I cannot tell you how liberating that was for me. I was no longer spinning out of control in my mind about what I had to do in the next hour or the next day or the next week. And you sleep so fucking well. It is THE BEST SLEEP MEDICINE. And you wake refreshed and you don’t feel hung over. It is also excellent for relieving pain. So, what I am trying to say here is that as far as I am concerned, all cannabis use is medicinal. Now, I know there are people who will disagree. They will say that they don’t like to get stoned…which I could never understand, but to each his own. They also say that we MUST distinguish between medical cannabis usage and recreational usage, otherwise people will think we are useless stoners who spend all day sitting on the couch, watching stoner movies and eating bags of Cheetos. Of course, there are people who do that. But, for the most part, those of us who are cannabis users are productive members of society who have jobs and families and pay our bills and just want to get away from what is happening in the world for short periods of time. Is that so wrong? It’s really no different than having a glass or two of wine at the end of your day. Especially when you are not hurting anyone else. I NEVER drive under the influence of cannabis because I feel impaired and feel it is a dangerous practice.
I have never been addicted, BTW. If I have it, I REALLY enjoy it. If I don’t have it…and that often happens where I don’t have any for weeks at a time, it is no biggy. It’s not like I am a raving lunatic ala Reefer Madness. So, there you have it. Those are my thoughts. As always, I love to hear your comments.
