What do you do for that special person in your life? Tis’ the season to love and be loved.
My heart melted when I saw the McDonald’s, “Pay with Lovin” campaign, on TV. I thought, this is what our world needs more of; good people doing good things for the overall good of others. Their idea of randomly selecting customers to give free food; the only payment being a hug, a dance or a kind word was so phenomenal that I decided to do something similar.
I decided to randomly pick people in my life (family, friends, co-workers and church members) to tell them how much I love and appreciate them in unique ways. I’m sending animated text messages and hand-made cards in the mail. I’m baking sweetheart cupcakes, and running errands for some of the elderly members of my church. I even pulled out my sewing machine to teach my 15-year-old daughter how to design her own outfits.
There has always been a time to celebrate anyone who has a special place in my heart. Even when I didn’t have a husband or significant other, I had God first, myself, then I had my children, who I would shower with hugs and teddy bears and assorted chocolates, just the same. I’ve always had a Valentine, year-round!
Who is your sweetheart? What will you do differently to display your love?
Be authentic and creative!
