by Dawj Sangster– I went to New York recently to attend the Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and to interview Larry and his team (Head Writer Robin Thede and Executive Producer and Writer Rori Albanese). To say the very least, I had such a wonderful time. Larry has to be one of the nicest guys I have ever met and the team is absolutely amazing. I know we hear often that people play the pretend game for bloggers and journalists to get that positive review, but as a professional blogger, photo journalist and observer of people, I will say that Larry and the crew are very genuine. Larry’s new show airs weeknights on Comedy Central at 11:30/10:30C.
For those that don’t know him, he was the creator, executive producer and writer for the Bernie Mac show, that he also won an Emmy Award for in 2002. He served as the executive producer of the ABC hit comedy “Black-ish,” AND if that isn’t enough, he was the Senior Black Correspondent on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. This guy has true talent but more importantly, he isn’t afraid to step out and take a chance at success in what ever way he has defined it.
I had such a great interview with him and and his crew ( I will post their interviews separately), and he spoke so highly of Bernie Mac, Tracie Ellis Ross, Issa Ray and Anthony Anderson. He was absolutely hilarious and had me laughing the whole time. What I really like about him is his willingness to give praise to others for their talent. He is very modest in accepting any praise for himself because he feels the artists/actors deserve the praise for their work. I love watching his show and you would surely enjoy his humor.
Be sure to check him out on The Nightly Show that airs on Comedy Central weeknights 11:30/10:30c. You can also #GetSocial with them #NightlyShow on Twitter (@Nightlyshow), Instagram ( TheNightlyShow) and Facebook ( TheNightlyShow).
