The Black Social Network College Tour is a traveling stage play that uses theater to illustrate the importance of responsible social media branding.
In The Black Social Network, Eva, an ambitious celebrity publicist, and Jasmine, a Facebook fabulist, unravel when an online rumor triggers offline consequences. Image is everything— until reality crashes the party.
Detroit business leaders Jocelyn K. Allen and Angela T. Jones have joined the performance of The Black Social Network that takes place on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 8 p.m., at Wayne State University. The Theta Delta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., are hosts for the show.
Jocelyn K. Allen is Director of Regional, Grassroots, and Diversity Communications at General Motors. Allen is also a member the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and founder of the Divas4Life nonprofit.
Angela T. Jones is Chief Executive Officer and Media Entrepreneur at Super Woman Productions and Publishing LLC. Angela is a managing editor for Detroit CEO Magazine and she also writes for Thrive Detroit newspaper and Yahoo!.
More than 100 Detroit-area actors and bloggers submitted audition tapes, and producers selected Allen and Jones to join the traveling cast.
“We are excited to see Jocelyn’s portrayal of the feisty business blogger Gretchen in the show,” says Zondra Hughes, Executive Producer of the tour. “Both women are beautiful and edgy. Jocelyn is a presence to be reckoned with and she is sure to give the tyrannical Eva James (portrayed by WGCI FM’s Demi Lobo) a run for her money.” Hughes adds, “Angela T. Jones as our narrator is a perfect choice as Angela has a devoted following and she can bring that Detroit voice and authenticity to her storytelling.”
