Maybe I’m in rare form.

Addiction tends to send me to a dark place where stars are too distant to shine.

While I send my condolences to all lives lost in addiction, Philip Seymour Hoffman is an expensive name to a cheap drug that’s claimed countless lives.

So I hear the NYPD has not only put out a statewide search but have captured four associated dealers. Interesting.

How much is an addicts life worth? When a man or woman is found dead with a needle in their arm, how many times does a police investigation or search ensue?

How many times is the name of the lost life ‘trending’ for support and awareness? Headlines for addicts? How often…? On the surface, I’d say when they’re millionaires. I’d say when society thought them to be valuable and rich and why would they use/abuse drugs when they’re rich?

Isn’t that the one thing we all can agree that would make us ‘happy’ and whole and at ease?

Why kill yourself with drugs Whitney, Michael and Philip? You have it all, right? Why play with drugs and the fake escape Brittany, Amy and Corey?

Your big names and Hollywood budgets and fresh from rehab resumes made it look beautifully tragic.

I have a question America: Can you provide accessible rehabilitation and drug prevention resources to all American citizens? I mean, may I be frank? Do I need to be an acclaimed actor to get and stay addicted to drugs before you notice me? Before you notice that money doesn’t matter; an addict is an addict is an addict.

There are fatherless children left with little or no answers let alone help for a parent dying of drugs.

Said child, is living in a drug infested environment where police are only present for (budget) busts!

Stop it, “drug free” America! Stop lying to the media as if you care and “drugs” are the problem. The airplanes, boats and trains they come on sure ain’t ushered by the pedal pushers you affectionately ‘arrest for intent to distribute’.

Just stop it. When my father was addicted, robbed, kidnapped and beaten beyond recognition no cops came to question us or the dealers the handicapped him!

Drug addiction is only bad when the millionaires die? It’s only an epidemic when the rich and beautiful perish at the sight of such an ugly disease? I get it.

Lastly, I’m just curious America, do all addicts perish equally? Enlighten me.

Stop by an N/A meeting and hear how many nameless addicts die in addiction and report where the busts should start.

Come on America, let’s get to the root of it and it’s not Hollywood.

I’m A Comeaux and I’m the child of an addict.
