This letter is open to you, me and every woman in our realm.
I’m thinking about my teenaged sister who I know needs me but I can’t seem to get through to her.
With an ambition to launch a collective to mentor young ladies by women of all walks of life and social statuses, my hope is that my baby sister finds a kindred spirit in another woman.
See, I understand the impact a woman has on the lives of those around her.
There are women I watched as girl who taught me lessons that I still apply. I have friends who’ve grown into esteemed pillars that I look up to, because I wouldn’t be who I am if not for them.
Loving me. Supporting me. Protecting me.
Life has taught me that every woman in every season is valuable.
To my sisters, know that I will be a better friend. And being a better friend requires me to be open to teach you how I can receive it.
I’m careful what I call petty because I know what’s menial to me may be monumental to you.
I know that people have murdered relationships over misunderstandings or pride and the casualties never suffice the war.
I value you, my sister.
I know the hats we wear heavy our shoulders and it’s more than what we signed up for; still hold your head high.
When it gets too burdensome, hold my hand. You’re not alone. We are the soul of the universe, the heartbeat of the family and the grace in chaos.
But we need each other.
In my practice to be a better mother, sister, friend and resource, hold me accountable.
I don’t call as much or visit like I should, but I will.
And this open letter is my plight to break the ice. Okay, I kept it short, because I know you’re busy.
Get back to life and know that I love you, my Sister.
