A few days ago, we interviewed some of the most interesting women ever during a trip to the General Motors World Headquarters in Detroit, Michigan.
The Chicks of GM are a diverse team of women that represent every facet of today’s woman. Empowering best describes them all, as the women shared their ambitions to do well, and their desire for us all to do well together.
The Chicks of GM embody the epitome of education, growth, perseverance and resilience; and each shared lessons that we will showcase here all this week.
Meet Vivian Pickard
President of the General Motors Foundation and Director of Corporate Relations
Vivian Pickard leads GM’s efforts to strengthen communities across the U.S. through grants in the areas of education, health/human services, environment/energy, and community development.
Pickard serves on numerous prestigious boards and is a member of The Executive Leadership Council and the Executive Committee for The Links, Inc. Pickard shares two vital rules for success: Be prepared, and be yourself.
“When you walk into that room, when you get on that conference call, it’s important that you are as prepared as you can be,” Pickard tells the Six Brown Chicks. Pickard adds, “Be yourself; that’s why individuals choose you to become a member of their organization. There’s no reason to pretend that you are something you are not.”
